TNFSF13B molecular target information overview
Overview of TNFSF13B molecular targets
cell activating factor (BAFF), also known as B lymphocyte stimulating factor (BLys) or tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B (TNFSF13B), is expressed in cells of the B cell lineage and acts as an effective B cell activator, playing an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells. BAFF is an immunostimulant and is necessary for maintaining normal immunity. Insufficient BAFF expression will fail to activate B cells to produce enough immunoglobulins and lead to immunodeficiency. Excessive BAFF expression can cause excessive antibody secretion, leading to systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.
