IL17F molecular target information overview
Overview of IL17F molecular targets
Interleukin 17F (IL-17F) and IL-17A are two closely related members of the IL-17 family, with approximately 50% amino acid homology. IL-17F is derived from different cell types, such as Th17 cells, mast cells, and basophils, and is widely expressed in tissues, including the lung. IL-17F can induce many cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial cells, vascular endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and eosinophils. IL-17F uses IL-17RA and IL-17RC as its receptors to activate MAP kinase-related pathways. Overexpression of the IL-17F gene in the mouse airway is associated with increased neutrophils in the airway, induction of multiple cytokines, airway hyperresponsiveness, and increased mucus hypersecretion. Therefore, IL-17F may play an important role in allergic airway inflammation and has important therapeutic significance for asthma.

Mouse Il17f target molecular function (prediction)
Enables cytokine receptor binding activity; protein heterodimerization activity; and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in defense response to bacterium and positive regulation of gene expression. Acts upstream of or within positive of cytokine production involved in inflammatory response and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Regulation located in extracellular space. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis. Orthologous to human IL17F (interleukin 17F).
