FLT1 Molecular Target Information Overview
Overview of FLT1 molecular targets
Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (VEGF R1), also known as Flt-1, is a specific tyrosine kinase (RTK) receptor for the angiogenic factors VEGF (VEGF-A), placental growth factor (PIGF), and VEGF-B. Depending on the shear form, there are two forms: membrane-type (mbVEGFR) and soluble (sVEGFR). Experimental and clinical injections of sVEGF R1 successfully blocked angiogenesis and tumor growth. Under different pathological conditions, the content of sVEGF R1 in serum/plasma varies and may have diagnostic value. Under experimental and pathological conditions, sVEGF R1 and VEGF levels are correlated. High levels of sVEGF R1 are present in the plasma of pregnant women and patients with essential hypertension. The level of sVEGF R1 is significantly reduced in the plasma of patients with cardiovascular disease and smokers.

Human FLT1 target molecular function (prediction)
Enables growth factor binding activity; placental growth factor-activated receptor activity; and vascular endothelial growth factor-activated receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including monocyte chemotaxis; positive regulation of kinase activity; and protein phosphorylation. Located in actin cytoskeleton and plasma membrane. Is integral component of plasma membrane. Part of receptor complex. Implicated in Kuhnt-Junius degeneration; diabetic retinopathy; and pre-eclampsia. Biomarker of several diseases, including Kawasaki disease; Leydig cell tumor; cerebrovascular disease (multiple); kidney cancer (multiple); and retinal disease (multiple).
