CXCL11 Molecular Target Information Overview
CXCL11 molecular target review
CXC motif chemokine 11 (CXCL11), also known as interferon-induced T cell alpha chemokine (I-TAC), is a small molecular weight cytokine in the CXC chemokine family. Its gene, like many other CXC chemokine family members, is located on human chromosome 4. It is highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes, pancreas and liver, moderately expressed in thymus, spleen and lung, and lowly expressed in small intestine, placenta and prostate tissues. IFN-γ and IFN-β can strongly induce the expression of CXCL11 gene, while IFN-α has a weak induction effect on it. CXCL11 acts on target cells by interacting with the cell surface chemokine receptor CXCR3. CXCL11 chemotactic activated T cells. CXCL11 has an angiogenesis-inhibiting effect and is involved in allergic contact dermatitis, atherosclerosis, mycosis fungoides (a T-cell lymphoma), and immune-mediated central nervous system disorders such as multiple sclerosis.
