HAVCR1 molecular target information overview
HAVCR1 molecular target review
T cell immunoglobulin domain-binding mucin domain protein-1 (TIM-1), also known as kidney injury factor-1 (KIM-1) and hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 1 (HAVcr1), is a member of the TIM gene family and plays a key role in regulating immune cell activity, especially the host immune response to viral infection. TIM-1 is preferentially expressed in Th2 cells and is a stimulatory molecule for T cell activation. TIM-1 is also involved in allergic reactions, asthma, and transplant tolerance. In humans, TIM-1 can serve as a receptor for a variety of viruses to enter cells, including hepatitis A virus, dengue virus, and Ebola virus.

Human HAVCR1 target molecular function (prediction)
Enables virus receptor activity. Predicted to be involved in phagocytosis, engulfment and positive regulation of mast cell activation. Predicted to act upstream of or within response to lipopolysaccharide and response to wounding. Part of motile cilium. Implicated in atopic dermatitis. Biomarker of several diseases, including hydronephrosis; hyperuricemia; kidney disease (multiple); relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis; and vesicoureteral reflux.

Mouse Havcr1 target molecular function (prediction)
Enables phosphatidylserine binding activity. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of mast cell activation; response to lipopolysaccharide; and response to wounding. Located in brush border and cell surface. Is expressed in brain; dorsal aorta; liver; lung; and reproductive system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in atopic dermatitis. Orthologous to human HAVCR1 (hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 1).
