CD55 molecular target information overview
CD55 molecular target review
CD55 is a 60-70kD glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-fixed single-chain glycoprotein, also known as decay accelerating factor (DAF). It is expressed in hematopoietic cells, including erythrocytes and many non-hematopoietic cells. CD55 can reduce the efficiency of NK cell lysis and induce T cell signal transduction. CD55 has also been shown to interact with CD97 and bind to coxsackie and reoviruses.

Human CD55 target molecule function (prediction)
Enables lipid binding activity and virus receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of CD4-positive, alpha-beta T cell proliferation; positive regulation of T cell cytokine production; and regulation of lipopolysaccharide-mediated signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within regulation of complement activation and regulation of complement-dependent cytotoxicity. Located in cell surface; membrane raft; and plasma membrane. Implicated in prostate cancer and protein-losing enteropathy. Biomarker of breast cancer; cervical cancer; and endometrial adenocarcinoma.
