  • CD19 molecular target review

CD19 is a 95kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in all developmental stages of B cells, except plasma cells. CD19 forms a complex with CD21, CD81, and MHC class II molecules, and initiates the activation of mature B cells by interacting with B cell receptors. CD19 can promote B cell proliferation, development, and activation, as well as the maturation of memory B cells. In CD19-deficient mice, the generation and maturation of B cells in the bone marrow and periphery are affected.

Human CD19 target molecule function (prediction)

Involved in several processes, including B cell proliferation involved in immune response; positive regulation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase activity; and positive regulation of release of sequestered calcium ion into cytosol. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Is integral component of plasma membrane. Part of protein-containing complex. Implicated in common variable immunodeficiency.
