TLR2 molecular target information overview
Overview of TLR2 molecular targets
Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) is a transmembrane receptor expressed on a variety of cell types, including microglia, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. TLRs make up a family of pattern recognition receptors that play an important role in the innate immune response. . A large number of pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi, constitutively express a set of anti-mutation molecules called pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). These microbial molecular markers can be composed of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and/or combinations thereof. Individual TLRs recognize different pathogen-associated PAMPs, initiating signaling cascades that promote immune responses.

Human TLR2 target molecular function (prediction)
Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of NF-kappaB transcription factor activity and response to molecule of bacterial origin. Located in several cellular components, including Golgi apparatus; cell surface; and membrane raft. Is intrinsic component of plasma membrane. Part of Toll-like receptor 1-Toll-like receptor 2 protein complex. Is integral component of plasma membrane. Implicated in several diseases, including autoimmune disease (multiple); dermatitis (multiple); gastrointestinal system cancer (multiple); lung disease (multiple); and rhinitis (multiple). Biomarker of several diseases, including autoimmune disease (multiple); eye disease (multiple); lung disease (multiple); middle ear disease (multiple); and nose disease (multiple).
