PDGFB molecular target information overview
Overview of PDGFB molecular targets
Platelet-derived factor (PDGF) is one of many factors that regulate cell growth and division. Chemically, PDGF is a dimeric glycoprotein formed by two A chains (-AA) or two B chains (-BB) or a combination of AB chains (-AB). In particular, it plays an important role in angiogenesis, the growth of existing vascular tissue. Uncontrolled angiogenesis is a characteristic of tumors. Hepatocytes and non-resorbing osteoclasts express PDGF-BB, which produces osteoblasts and bone, and platelets, macrophages, and mast cells can also produce PDGF-BB. At the site of injury, PDGF-BB promotes the infiltration of neutrophils and macrophages, plays a debridement role, promotes fibroblasts to secrete new extracellular matrix, and promotes IGF-1-mediated re-epithelialization.
