  • Overview of MICB molecular targets

MICB (human histocompatibility complex class I-related gene B) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is a ligand for the human NKG2D type II receptor. The MICB gene is located in the MHC-I class region of human chromosome 6 and is polymorphic, with more than 15 known human alleles. MICB is only expressed in trace amounts in normal cells, but it is usually expressed in epithelial tumors and can be induced by bacterial and viral infections. Therefore, the identification of MICB is closely related to tumor monitoring, viral infection, and the prevention of autoimmune diseases.

Human MICB target molecular function (prediction)

Enables natural killer cell lectin-like receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including immune response-activating cell surface receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of defense response to virus by host; and response to retinoic acid. Predicted to be located in cell surface. Predicted to be anchored component of external side of plasma membrane. Predicted to be active in external side of plasma membrane and extracellular space.
