MKI67 molecular target information overview
Overview of MKI67 molecular targets
KI-67, also known as Ki-67 or MKI67, is a protein encoded by the MKI67 gene in humans. Ki-67 is a 350-400 kDa nuclear protein that belongs to the member of the chromosome mitosis-associated proteins. In addition, Ki-67 is associated with ribosomal RNA transcription, and its inactivation inhibits ribosomal RNA synthesis. Ki-67 interacts with Hklp2 of 160 kDa, which promotes centrosome separation and spindle polarity. It also directly interacts with NIFK and binds UBF, thereby playing a role in the synthesis of ribosomal RNA. In patients with ER-positive breast cancer, Ki-67 represents a group of highly proliferative subgroups, which make them benefit more from adjuvant chemotherapy.
