CD8A molecular target information overview

  • Molecular name: CD8A, CD8a molecule

  • CD8A molecular target review

CD8, also known as T8 or Leu2, is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed in most thymocytes, peripheral blood T cell subsets, and NK cells (basically CD8α/α homodimers). CD8 plays an important role in antigen recognition and T cell activation as a T cell receptor restricted by MHC class I molecules and in thymic differentiation.

Human CD8A target molecule function (prediction)

Enables MHC class I protein complex binding activity. Predicted to be involved in T cell mediated immunity; cell surface receptor signaling pathway; and cytotoxic T cell differentiation. Predicted to act upstream of or within defense response to virus and positive regulation of calcium-mediated signaling. Located in external side of plasma membrane and plasma membrane raft. Biomarker of COVID-19; erythema multiforme; and stomach cancer.
