ITGAM molecular target information overview

  • Molecular name: ITGAM, integrin subunit alpha M
  • Gene family: CD molecules; Integrin alpha subunits; Complement system regulators and receptors
  • Alias: MAC-1; CD11b
  • Previous names: CR3A; CD11B
  • Alias:complement component 3 receptor 3 subunit; macrophage-1 antigen alpha subunit; integrin, alpha M (complement component receptor 3, alpha; also known as CD11b (p170), macrophage antigen alpha polypeptide); integrin, alpha M (complement component 3 receptor 3 subunit)

  • ITGAM molecular target review

CD11b binds to CD18 non-covalently to form αM-β2 integrin (Mac-1), which binds to CD54 (ICAM-1), C3bi and fibrinogen. Mac-1 is expressed on macrophages, NK cells, granulocytes, microglia, activated lymphocytes and mouse B-1 cells. CD11b binds to its ligand and participates in the interaction of adhesion cells. This antibody can also cross-recognize human CD11b and can detect this antigen on monocytes, granulocytes and a certain group of NK cells in human peripheral blood.

Mouse Itgam target molecular function (prediction)

Enables complement component C3b binding activity; heparan sulfate proteoglycan binding activity; and heparin binding activity. Contributes to cargo receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including central nervous system development; endocytosis; and positive regulation of neuron death. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including activated T cell proliferation; leukocyte migration; alphaM-beta2 complex. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; heart; lymphatic vessel; thymus; and yolk sac. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in lupus nephritis. Orthologous to human ITGAM (integrin subunit alpha M).
