Tissue specificity：Expressed in heart, aorta, and in smooth muscle cell-containing tissues: stomach, bladder and uterus. Isoform 1 and isoform 3 are predominantly expressed in cardiac muscle whereas isoform 4 and isoform 5 are predominantly expressed in SMC-rich tissues. Developmental stage：Detected in the cardiac crescent at 7.75 dpc and in the linear heart tube at 8.0 dpc and the developing atrial and aortic ventricular chambers until birth. Also detected in a subset of vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells: aortic arch arteries at 9.5 dpc; walls of the esophagus, dorsal aorta, pulmonary outflow tract, lung, gut, stomach, small intestine, bladder, and the head mesenchyme at 13.5 dpc until birth.
