  • CD83 molecular target review

CD83, also known as HB15, has a molecular weight of 43 kD. It is a transmembrane protein that is weakly expressed in activated B cells, activated T cells, activated granulocytes, dendritic cells, and Langerhans cells. CD83 is a specific marker for dendritic cells and is involved in antigen presentation and lymphocyte activation. It can be used to identify and separate dendritic cells, follicular junction cells, and Langerhans cells in the blood.
