LAG3 molecular target information overview
Overview of LAG3 molecular targets
CD223, also known as lymphocyte activation gene-3 (LAG-3), is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and a molecule that has an inhibitory effect on lymphocytes. LAG-3 molecules are closely related to CD4 molecules, and the genes of these two molecules are located at the end of the short arm of chromosome 12. LAG-3 molecules are mainly expressed on the surface of activated NK cells and T lymphocytes, and bind to MHC II with high affinity.
Human LAG3 Molecular Target Information
Molecular name: LAG3, lymphocyte activating 3
Alias:
- CD223
- lymphocyte activation gene 3 protein
- lymphocyte-activation gene 3
Gene sequence:NCBI_Gene: 3902
Protein sequence:UniProtKB: P18627
Human LAG3 target molecular function (prediction)
Enables MHC class II protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including cell surface receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of regulatory T cell differentiation; and plasmacytoid dendritic cell activation. Predicted to act upstream of or within negative regulation of T cell activation; negative regulation of interleukin-2 production; and positive regulation of natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity. Predicted to be located in extracellular region.

Mouse Lag3 target molecular function (prediction)
Enables MHC class II protein binding activity and transmembrane signaling receptor activity. Involved in negative regulation of regulatory T cell differentiation; plasmacytoid dendritic cell activation; and regulation of immune response. Acts upstream of or within cell surface receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of interleukin-2 production; and positive regulation of natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity. Located in external side of plasma membrane and extracellular region. Orthologous to human LAG3 (lymphocyte activating 3).
