Product Introduction
Ponceau S staining solution can be used for protein detection on PVDF membranes, nitrocellulose membranes (NC), and cellulose acetate membranes. It is not suitable for nylon membranes. Transferred proteins (>200 ng/band) appear as red bands on a pink background. Ponceau S staining is simple, rapid, and reversible, which is especially advantageous when the blot needs to be reused for a second detection method (e.g., immunoblotting). Ponceau S is a water-soluble anionic diazo dye, with the molecular formula C22H12N4Na4O13S4 and molecular weight of 760.6. It carries a negative charge and can bind to positively charged amino acid residues. It can also interact with non-polar regions of proteins, forming red bands.
